So, things have stalled a bit in our office. End of school and life changes have kept us pretty busy these days. But that is okay, this week we are going full steam ahead!

In the meantime, I am still enjoying the one corner of our office we have had a chance to complete. Our gallery wall is bright and colorful and the sofa is a cozy place to hang out. And today, I wanted to share our Sharpie Art Coffee Table.

To start with, I found this table in the "as-is" section of a home decor store. She was sad and lonely table with no legs.

I quickly scooped her up and knew right away what I would do with her.

Our place, as a family – is Long Beach Island in NJ. There is just something about being there that does our souls good. Years ago, we went to a special spot on the northern end and had some pictures taken. Last year, we went back and I attempted to recreate some of the same photos now that the girls were older.

But one picture was a new shot and one that melted me. What is about a picture of the back of my kids walking? And then add their Dad and I am sold.

Sandy took its toll on my parent's beach condo so we just don’t know if we will make there this year, but if not – we still have this sweet reminder.

So I decided to create a painted canvas of the image with Mod Podge Photo Transfer medium.

A few years ago I started to notice that every time I shopped for casual jewelry, I could not find what I wanted. I liked some parts of new and some parts of vintage. So I began dabbling with making my own – mixing new and vintage.

So when the opportunity came about to do a project for Martha Stewart Jewelry I jumped at the chance.

The first thing I was excited about was all the tools. But, I will admit, I did not really get the silicone mat at first.

Now, I want to be the president of its fan club.

Sometimes a project should just be easy and simple. So, last Saturday morning, we once again broke out the watercolor paints. I kind of have a thing for watercolor paint these days.

There is just something so soft, ethereal and elementary about it.

And so, while my girl Peanut painted a picture of a doll (she is obviously more talented that I am!), I decided to try an easy canvas for our office gallery wall.

I have a reputation.

It is true.

A reputation for being willing to take in long forgotten items with a little wear, maybe even some rust.

In fact, just this Sunday, as we went to leave the church parking lot – a friend stopped her car and waved me down so her husband could give me the old metal bucket he had saved for me.

It was one of the sweetest things someone had done for me in a long time.

Today I want to share with you a succulent garden I made using galvanized plumbing material.

But first, there is story as to how I got here…

Last week, my girlfriend texted me right about the time my daughter’s bus arrives. Normally, that would not be an issue, but in this case – I was still asleep.

Yup, totally overslept. I was out cold. Swore I set an alarm. Didn’t.

Normally, it wouldn’t be a big deal – just drive her to school and hope we make it on time.

But that day – was state testing. The final day of state testing. I should point out that we missed the bus the first day of state testing as well.

I have a secret to tell you. I really don’t like desserts.

I know, shocking.

Don’t let me mislead you, I have plenty of bad eating habits on the salty side of things, but I usually pass over the dessert tables.

I just find them too rich and sweet.

But ice pops, they are my weakness.

At the beach where we go for vacation, every hour or so, the ice cream man (or lady) treks up onto the beach, block by block, and rings their bell. And the kids go running.

We never head to the beach without sunscreen or cash in our pockets.

My kids come running out of the water, grab the strategically placed money and head for the truck. They never stop to ask to ask Mom what she wants.

They already know.

Mom wants whatever type of fruity ice pop they have.

Today, I would like to share with you how I made homemade goats milk soap.

But first, I have to make a confession.

I am a scent snob.

I try not to be, but it is true.

I bring home all kind of things that smell yummy in the store, but when I get home…, well my sister always gets them.

But there are two scents I love always.

Lemon Verbena and Lavender.

And if they are mixed – even better.

So I decided I would try my hand at making my own soap – in my favorite scents.

And if it is going to smelly yummy, it may as well feel yummy too, so I made it with goats milk soap ingredients.

And it could not have been any easier.
