Today I want to share with you an easy, quick and casual tablescape for summer.
I started with some large lace doilies and used them as placemats.
Then I layered some simple green dishes and small toleware trays. I am pretty sure these would be considered “tip trays”. Some are matching, but not all, and I like the mix. I wouldn’t actually serve food on these, but I felt like they were an easy and simple way to add color and give the table a summer feel. “Tip trays” are usually fairly easy to find at yard sales, etc., and I know they can be found on Etsy.
I also added some chalkboard seat markers that I found at Target. They are actually on little easel backs, but I like them hooked on the plates.
These napkin holders were an unusual find at an estate sale, but I feel they could easily be recreated. They are hand painted vinyl cut in the shape of a flower. I just rolled the napkin, pulled it through the center and placed in the water glass. They could easily be recreated using something as simple as paper or fabric with a fabric stiffener added to it.
Since I didn’t have any large hydrangea blooms yet, I grouped a handful of smaller blooms in varying sizes of small canning jars. I added a few votive candles and placed them on a serving tray. The “fence” around the tray was actually leftover from a fence I had bought for a fairy garden. I just felt like it added a little summery detail.
The platter is placed on a simple vintage embroidered runner.
It doesn’t take a whole lot of layers and pieces for a casual table in the summer for it still to be pretty.
Less time spent setting a table means more time spent with friends who are joining you there.

And your photos are amazing
Magazine worthy!!
This is really beautiful. You take lovely pictures, and apparently have easy access to lovely flora. I wonder if I could do a tablescape with dandelions?…..
