For the Love of a Windmill

I have wanted a windmill for some time now.  One of those items I always had hoped to find.  I even tried to buy one out of someone’s yard once.

And then, someone suggested to look of all places – Amazon.com – and I did.

And it was reasonably priced and shipping was free.

And I am in love.

And I can see it each morning from my bedroom window and it makes me smile.

You know how you name a car – I feel like this windmill needs a name.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if it is a boy or a girl?

    How about Wendy?

  6. Laura,
I think your windmill has a grace and elegance to it and could be seen as female. I would call her Flo.
My wife names her cars, the last one was Bessie and this one is Lulabelle.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind for a girl is “Windy” and “Windston” for a boy. Enjoy your new treasure!

  10. Katherine Landreneau says:

Nice! Glad you are enjoying it! Names? How about “Windy”, “Windamere”, “Winsome”, “Windola”, or “Breezy”? I could go on, but got to go pick figs! haha

  11. Why don’t you call her “Wendy” get it??? (windy).
I love it. It’s a darling addition to your yard.

  12. I love your windmill! The people that live behind us have a great big one and it is one of the things that sold me on our house! It just made me happy to look out at it!!

  13. Cheryl Porada says:

She looks just like “Shirley Whirley” or “Swirl” for short!!

  14. If it’s a girl how about Wendy?

  15. So glad to meet a Jersey gal at Haven! Glad to call you a friend.

  17. I’m sticking with ‘Scarlett’ in honor of your trip to Atlanta. :) One of her famous lines from the movie was:

“YANKEES! Why, who let Yankees in Atlanta?” hee!hee!

    Blessings~

  18. “Shirley Whirley”??? LOL!!…now I am going to have that in my head forever…

Now I think the beautiful windmill should be called , “Milly”…love “Milly”….such a simple name, yet beautiful…I think of the movie, “Thoroughly Modern Milly”…..

  19. Now I know I spelled Modern Milly’s name wrong…should be Millie…but I love “Milly” obviously for “windmill”…but “Millie” is great too!!

  20. Love the windmill. I am from Batavia, IL which is known as Windmill City because it was home to 5 windmill manufacturers. They have long since ceased production, but the beautiful limestone factories are now part of our downtown art/civic scene. Love the new look on your blog!
