I am not exactly sure why, but I keep rewriting my shopping list.  I guess maybe I feel better when the list gets shorter each time.

I still have a little bit to do, but I am hoping one last effort tomorrow will get it done.

My plan for today had been wrapping.

But when I started to go through my ornaments to see if there were any I could tie to gifts, I got distracted by a collection I didn’t even know I had.

Seems all that seems new, really has always been around.

Ombre, or graduated color changes, has made its way into home decor, fashion and most definitely hair.

But I guess back in the (I am guessing) 50’s, it was something new in glass ornaments.

From pink to gold to blue.

From blue to green and back to blue.

Blue to silver to blue

Even pink to white to blue.

They are so lovely and now I have a new collection to group together.

Do you wish you had more vintage ornaments?  No worries, if you follow this tutorial you can!

Thanks so much for reading! post signature Vintage Ombre OrnamentsP.S. I did manage to pull together one gift.  When my sponsor, Cottage in the Oaks sent me these beautiful cotton flour sack towels, I knew just what I wanted to do with them.

With all the company people having coming in this time of year, I thought they would make a perfect bathroom guest towel gift set.

I used a fruit crate I had saved (actually it had peppers in it!), some ribbon and twine and once again I snipped some boxwood from my front yard.

I folded the two towels, added a bar of lavender soap.  The French details of the towels pair perfectly with the boxwood and lavender – but really any type of greenery and soap would work.

It only took me a few minutes and I had a lovely gift!

About Finding Home

My name is Laura and I have been running a small interior decorating business since 2004. I have always had a love for decorating but I never fully realized it until about 10 years ago. I live in New York with my husband and two daughters. They support me and encourage me at every turn. I have always loved the “hunt” for the next treasure, especially when you have to get down and dirty to discover it. I feel like it is time to start taking my business in a new direction. I am not sure exactly what that will be, but this blog is about that journey. About finding a sense of home, a place where we belong and can most be ourselves. Thank you for being part of my journey.

I’ve had my sons [michael] green tonka dump truck in my garage for some years now. He is 55 in Jan. and we bought this truck for him about 50 years ago. Mikes son Justin , how 23 played with it in his youth also. I just came across the pic. of your decorated truck and thought it was a wonderful idea. SO, I just brought the truck in a put it on a red tray with pinecones and christmas balls. I just love it. Thank you for such a wonderful idea. I love you webb site. Marry Christmas and a blessed 2013. Lynn
