Have you ever heard of Washi Tape?

I have been seeing it around for awhile, but hadn’t really done anything with it yet.  A picked up a roll here and there.  When I was contacted by Scotch Brand to see if I wanted to do a project with their Expressions tape for back-to-school,  I was in.

This is a big year for us in school.

Sunshine is going into 8th grade and Peanut is joining her at the middle school for 6th grade.  I knew I wanted them to get them set up for a fun place to get their homework done, so I went to work getting Sunshine’s desk freshened up for school.

Her desk was already a fun space, I just wanted to “zhush” a bit.  She asked me if I would dress up the simple lampshade that she already had on the desk.  I chose a tape with neon colors and to me at least, looked like a subway map and tied in with the maps already on her desk.

Then I added some stripes of green and blue.

I wasn’t exactly sure how it would go, but it was quite easy to attach and if it wasn’t perfectly straight, it easily was adjusted.  I used a piece of scrap tape in between the lines for spacing and for keeping it straight.

And if she tires of it, we can easily change it and update it.

I put it together while sitting at her desk and I realized that the front of the white shelves were perfect for adding some washi tape as well and I absolutely love how it came out.

She has so many fun and bright items on her shelves with a travel theme and the tape pulls them all together so perfectly.

And because I just couldn’t help myself, I added some orange patterned tape to her frame as well.

I think I am now officially hooked on the washi tape idea and my mind is already spinning with new ideas.  It is just so easy to use and change and just add a little touch to change things.

And the metallic gold has my head spinning.

All of my tape is from Scotch Brand.  Just in time for the back to school season, Scotch Expressions Tapes are available in over 100 colors and patterns and four varieties—Magic Tape, masking tape, washi tape and shipping tape.  They are available at office superstores and mass retailers nationwide and range from $2.50 for a single roll to $5.99 for a 3 pack.  You can also find a store by entering your zip code at scotchbrand.com.

You can find more BTS ideas and inspiration for working with Scotch Brand Expressions tape on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or the hashtag #ScotchBTS.

Of course we all also know Scotch Brand for their regular tape for wrapping gifts.  They are holding · The 17th annual Scotch Brand Most Gifted Wrapper Contest on Friday, December 6 at Celsius at Bryant Park in New York City.  You could compete by submitting a 3-minute video of your best gift wrap and gift wrapping tips before September 22 to be considered.  Learn more about the contest at MostGiftedWrapper.com.

I watched the video from last year’s contest – they had to wrap a plane!

Thanks so much for reading and wishing you a great day.

showing this to my tween tomorrow morning when she is all ready for her first day of school, she’s been using the duct tape on her walls, which as you can guess is a mess to deal with…didn’t want to curtail her creativity, tho! this looks like a good idea. :)
